MOLLY RENNICK - BLUE BEACH
Working with Molly Rennick is always an adventure and this shoot was no different. They said blue skies and a warm breeze off the lake. Instead we got grey skies and thunder rumbling in the distance. We were a good 15 minute walk from where we parked the car so if is started to rain there wasn’t going to be much to protect us from the downpour.
I shot this set using a Sony A7III with a Metabones adapter plus my Canon lenses. The shots came out pretty good with the exception of the grey skies. I wasn’t overly excited about the drab look. When I got back to the studio I started playing around in Lightroom trying to make the photos look a little more exciting. I came up with this effect which I feel, gave the images a little more visual interest without taking away from Molly too much. I’m pretty happy with the way these came out. It’s not really my style to go for such saturated colours but in this case I feel it worked.
This was the other editing concept I was playing with. Molly being the lead singer in a pretty edgy metal band my thought was to go dark and edgy with the editing style to create something moody. It worked on this image but didn’t translate well onto most of the photos. I kept this one because I really liked the moodiness of it.
