5 ways to use the High Pass Filter in photoshop to enhance your photos
I’ve designed this tutorial for people who are new to Photoshop and just figuring out how to use the High Pass Filters. There is a new way of using this filter by converting your image for smart filters but that’s a bit more advanced and i’ll cover that in another tutorial. For now we’re keeping it quick and simple. Here are 5 ways you can use a High Pass filter in Photoshop to enhance your image.
The High Pass Filter technique basically adds contrast between different tonal areas of an image. You can adjust the size of the tonal areas by adjusting the radius slider in the high Pass settings pop up. Just go to Filter>Other>High Pass to find it.
To speed up your workflow I would make a set of actions for each high pass technique so that you don’t have to keep repeating the process every time you work on a new image. I’ll be making a tutorial on how to create actions in an upcoming Photoshop tutorial videos.
