MY THREE MOST WANTED FIRMWARE UPDATES - EOS R5

In this video I’m going to go over three features I would like to see updated on the Canon EOS R5 firmware. So far I have to admit that I am really happy with the Canon R5. I think this is the best camera I have ever owned. Working with it on client shoots has been a great experience. Canon has rolled out a few firmware updates for this camera since it’s release and added some great value to the camera. (how to update the firmware video linked below) But with that being said there are three things I would like to see updated in the next EOS R5 firmware update.

1 - Canon’s menu is really great in that there are two separate menus. One for your video settings and one for your photo settings. It makes it really easy to have unique settings for each mode. However they have a Set Shutter Speed Range options in the menu which allows you to set a maximum and minimum shutter speed. Unfortunately this setting is global. So if you set your minimum shutter speed to 100/s for photography you can’t access 50/s shutter speed for shooting 24p video. So that’s a bit of an issue.

2 - When the Canon EOS R came out Canon did something amazing and allowed the shutter to come down when the camera is tuned off to minimize the chances of dust getting on your sensor. The same feature is also found on the EOS R5. As someone who shoots weddings and events I love this feature but I feel like it can be improved. When you flip your camera off it takes about 3 seconds for the shutter to come down. This may not seem like a long time but when you’re shooting wedding and events and are in the heat of the action trying to change your lenses in a dusty wedding hall that 3 seconds seems like 10 seconds. I’d really like that shutter drop time to be reduced.

3 - OK this is the big one. that 30 minute record limit has to go. Other camera brands don’t have 30 min record limits, your smart phone doesn’t have a 30 minute record limit and Canon should get rid of the 30 min record limit. I get it the EOS R5 has some recording modes that cause a lot of heat and that heat could in turn damage the R5. But do all the recording modes create dangerous levels of heat? Can we increate the video recording limit to 1 hour for recording made in standard 4k 24p? It would be great if some of the recording modes were given the ability to record for 1 hour.
