MOMAN MA6 LAVALIERE MICROPHONE
Welcome to my review of the ultra budget friendly Moman MA6 Lavalier Microphone. I’ve reviewed a few Moman products and each time I’ve been surprised by quality of the product given the value. I think it’s safe to say that Moman punches well above it’s price weight.
The Moman MA6 omni-directional lavalier microphone sounds great given it’s price point. The electronics are housed in an aluminum shell protecting them from accidental drops. The MA6 kit comes with a batterie which is easy to install. The instructions are very detailed. The one thing I will mention is that this device does not have an on off switch. The green light at the front of the capsule will only light up when it is plugged into another device such as your camera or computer. One thing I will mention is that this mic system is wired. The wire is 6 meters or 19 feet in length. Needless to say that length gives you a lot of room to move around and setup your shot. The length made it easy to plug in the mic and not have to worry about snagging the cord on anything as I adjust myself or my lights for the shots I was filming.
The sound quality is decent. It’s obviously not pro grade full sounding audio but as you can tell from the video the sound you can get from this lavaliere system is definitely an improvement over your camera’s built in microphone. With a little tweaking in post production you can really get a nice sounding with a good amount of pop.
Now that I’ve had the mic for a bit and used it there are only two negatives. One I wish there was an on off switch so that I could switch if off when it’s not in use. Something about having the battery in there and not being able to turn it off makes me wonder if the battery will be dead next time I turn it on. But with so few electronics in this device I’m sure the battery will last a while. The other thing I noticed is there is a little bit of buzzing coming form the mic. It’s very slight and can easily be removed with the denoiser in Premiere Pro.
I think this mic is made for two groups of people. A) The creatives who are just getting into Making YouTube videos. This mic is super budget friendly so you can spend those precious dollars on your camera and lights and not have to worry about spending another $400 on audio. B) This Moman MA6 is a great solution for those of us who are now working from home and are constantly having meetings on zoom or catching up with friends on Skype. It’s an easy plug and play solution that will really improve the audio quality of your calls. And with such a long wire you won’t have to worry about getting up and accidently pulling your laptop off the desk.
