Lens Info - Canon nFD 24mm f2.8

Canon nFD 24mm f2.8

Having a 24mm vintage lens in your collection is a must for enthusiasts, and the nFD 24mm f2.8 is an excellent option. Canon offers the f2 and f1.2 versions of this lens, but they come at exorbitant prices of $900 and $5000 respectively on the used market. On the other hand, the f2.8 version, which is still reasonably fast and sharp, can be bought for only $150. This lens, introduced in 1979, produces stunningly sharp images, but like all vintage lenses, it has a noticeable vignette when wide open and not the best corner sharpness. Nevertheless, at f2.8, it performs nicely in low light and delivers good contrast even when shooting towards the sun. Additionally, the lens's Super Spectra Coating helps control flare, but bright light sources can create a pleasing halo in your images. A 24mm is a great lens addition to every collection.
