Fujifilm X100V - Camera Info
Fujifilm X100V
The Fujifilm X100V stands out as a distinctive offering in the realm of compact cameras, blending retro aesthetics with cutting-edge technology to deliver a truly unique photographic experience. At its core lies a 26.1-megapixel X-Trans 4 sensor paired with a brand new fast fixed 23mm f/2 lens. Or approximately a 35mm equivalent focal length on a full frame camera. For those who want more versatility in focal range Fujifilm does offer a wide angle adapter and telephoto adapter for the camera. What sets the X100V apart is its hybrid viewfinder system, seamlessly switching between an electronic viewfinder and an optical viewfinder, catering to both traditionalists and those who prefer the digital interface. Two really amazing features of this camera are a leaf shutter built into the lens as well as a 4 stop ND filter also built into the body of the camera. The X100V’s compact and lightweight design, coupled with weather sealing (when a front filter is mounted), makes it a versatile companion for street photography and travel adventures alike. In my opinion what makes the X100V so much fun to use are the tactile buttons, vintage aesthetics and compact size. After being in the industry for 19 years this camera made me fall in love with photography all over again. The big issue with this camera is the continuous autofocus. It was barely passable. I would recommend shooting in single shot AF and avoid shooting subjects that are moving fast.
I was lucky, I bought this camera in mid 2021 before it’s hype got out of hand. The popularity surrounding the Fujifilm X100V reached unprecedented levels, resulting in a global shortage of the highly sought-after camera. Such was the fervor for this compact powerhouse that it became a rare commodity, selling out in numerous markets by 2021. The scarcity led to a remarkable phenomenon where demand far exceeded supply, causing prices on the secondary market to soar well above the retail price. Enthusiasts and professionals alike clamored to get their hands on the X100V, drawn by its unique user experience and iconic design. This scarcity-driven price surge underscored not only the camera's popularity but also its enduring appeal among photographers seeking a perfect blend of performance, portability, and style.
