FIFINE USB MICROPHONE K678 UNBOXING & IMPRESSIONS
Welcome to another review video. Today we’re looking at the Fifine K678 USB Cardioid Microphone. Usually when I buy equipment I spend a lot of time researching but in this case Fifine sent me this microphone to review so I knew nothing about the mic till I started testing it. I went into the testing assuming that the K678 USB mic would perform like other microphones in it’s price range. And I'll admit now that I was wrong with that assumption. This mic punches well above its price point which makes it a great deal for those of you who are looking to get a decent USB microphone on a budget.
Just keep in mind this is a USB mic not an XLR mic so that’s the space in which I was trying to evaluate it. I had a Blue Yeti on hand and at first I didn’t want to compare the two mics because of the price difference between them, but curiosity got the best of me and I did the comparison. I was really surprised to hear how similar the two mics sounded after a little processing in Premiere Pro. If you’re looking for a USB Cardioid mic to do some YouTube caliber voice overs the K678 can handle the job and with it being half the cost of the Blue Yeti it will save you some money too.
Just like the Yeti the lows and the midrange sounds are ok sounding. I wouldn’t call them full or rich sounds but they are average. The mic does start to sound a little hollow in the high ranges. You’ll hear it in the video when I test the mic. But you can boost the quality of the sound in video editing software for YouTube. However, with that being said, for a USB mic I think it’s pretty good. Definitely usable for YouTube videos. As for streaming or Zoom/Skype calls, it depends if you like the way your voice sounds out of the mic. You can do a bit of processing via OBS software as you stream. But in short, will the K678 work for streaming, the answer is yes.
