MY MISSION
Hello my name is Vasko and I’m a professional photographer based out of Toronto Canada. I opened my photography business in 2005 and have almost 20 years experience in the industry. In 2015 I took an interest in videography and started creating YouTube videos. I soon realized that I had a passion for video production which led to positive engagement with views. In 2019 my focus shifted towards building a business on YouTube. I now run a steadily growing YouTube channel whose core mission is to help other creators along their journey by sharing my wealth of knowledge. My channel, Vasko Obscura, focuses on providing educational content through gear reviews, tutorials and behind the scenes videos while maintaining a high production value. My overall aim with this channel is to share my experience with others and build a positive inclusive community that has a passion for content creation.

With only 8000 subscribers I know that I am a relatively small channel right now. I’ve spent a lot of time researching my audience and creating videos designed to create more engagement and growth. I’m pleased to report that I’ve seen a 156% increase in views in 2022 over 2021. This increase in views has also sparked a massive increase in subscribers as well. I’ve grown by 2.2k so far in 2022 which is more than double the 876 subscribers I gained in 2021. I’m on pace to reach 10,000 subscribers by early 2023. Needless to say I know I’m a small channel but I produce high value content for my target audience which is expanding at a steady pace.

Above is a graph showing my lifetime growth in Subscribers. Other than a semi-viral video I had blow up in 2018, 2022 has been the best year for subscriber growth so far and I expect 2023 to be even better.
Before I began my career in photography I studied marketing and advertising in University. Having a deep knowledge of how the advertising industry works has proven to be an invaluable tool many times over. Now as I grow this YouTube channel and approach brands it’s coming into play again. I understand the value of an audience and more specifically a targeted audience. My YouTube channel’s audience is 90% male mostly between the ages of 25 and 44 residing in North America. There is a screen shots of my YouTube analytics linked below that will breakdown these numbers farther.
Not surprisingly a majority of my viewership comes from English speaking regions. The United States being my largest audience followed by Canada and surprisingly India. For reasons that are unknown to me my audience engagement from India has been slowly increasing over the years. I have plans to grow this audience by featuring models and other content creators of Indian descent on my channel.
I’ve grown my female audience to 5.8% from 1.6% last year and I am dedicated to continuing to grow my female audience along with other audiences. The power of social media lies in the fact that it gives everybody the opportunity to have a voice. As a channel that teaches people how to produce content for social media I want my content to appeal to everybody.
