My One-Lens Challenge with Val G
Recently, I had the pleasure of working with the always stunning Val G for a photoshoot. As a photographer, I'm always looking for ways to challenge myself and improve my craft. For this shoot, I decided to set myself a challenge: only use one prime lens, the EF 35mm f1.4 L II.
Now, some might argue that choosing the 35mm is almost like cheating, as it's known to be the most versatile focal length out there. But for me, shooting with the 35mm is a personal favorite. The way it captures both the subject and the background in just the right ratio is visually pleasing to me. During the shoot, I found that the 35mm allowed me to capture Val G in her full beauty, while still being able to showcase the coffee shop vibe. I was able to tell a visual story by capturing her in her environment, all while maintaining focus on her.
Working with Val G is always a pleasure, and this shoot was no exception. Despite the one-lens challenge, I was able to capture some amazing shots that I'm proud of. It goes to show that sometimes, working within certain constraints can push us to be more creative and produce better results.
In conclusion, I would definitely recommend trying out the one-lens challenge to any fellow photographers out there. It's a fun way to push yourself out of your comfort zone and create some amazing shots. And if you're looking for a versatile lens to start with, you can't go wrong with the EF 35mm.
