LLANO Dual Battery Charger + Power Bank review

Have You Ever Been Stopped Mid-Shoot by a Dead Battery?

There’s nothing worse than being deep in the zone, capturing the perfect shot, and suddenly realizing your battery is about to die. It’s the ultimate creativity killer. But what if you had a way to never run out of power again, even while on the go? Enter the LLANO Dual Battery Charger and Battery Bank, a must-have for photographers and videographers who want to keep their shoots running smoothly.

This device is a lifesaver. Equipped with a built-in 12,400 mAh battery, it can charge your camera batteries while you’re shooting or power your devices through its dual USB-C PD output ports. Let’s dive into what makes this product such a valuable tool for creators.

Product Info

I primarily shoot with Canon gear, so I tested the version of the LLANO charger designed for Canon batteries. However, this charger is available in different models for various camera brands. For those using other systems, I’ll include links to alternate versions in the blog post.

Different charger versions on Amazon:
Canon LP-E6
Canon LP-E17
Sony NP-FZ
Nikon EN-EL15
Fuji NP-W126S
Fuji NP-W235

I decided to review this product because I often shoot weddings, a scenario where battery life is critical. Back in the day, my trusty Canon 5D cameras could handle long shoots without a problem. But with the newer EOS R system, battery life is not what it used to be. The LLANO charger has become a staple in my kit, giving me peace of mind during long shoots. I can keep one battery in the camera while the other charges in the LLANO and ideally, I keep two batteries in the charger for maximum flexibility.

How to Use It

Using the LLANO Dual Battery Charger is straightforward.

  1. Charge the Internal Battery: Plug the charger into a power source to fill its 12,400 mAh battery. You can leave it plugged into the wall and use it as a traditional dual-bay charger.

  2. On-the-Go Charging: The real magic happens when you’re mobile. The LLANO’s internal battery can charge your camera batteries without needing to be plugged into a wall outlet.

  3. Power Your Camera and Devices: The dual USB-C ports let you connect your camera directly to the power bank for extended runtime, perfect for video shoots. You can also use these ports to charge other USB-C devices, like lights or your smartphone.

Final Thoughts

After several months of testing, I’m happy to say that the LLANO Dual Battery Charger delivers on its promises. It’s a versatile tool that has saved me from the stress of dead batteries multiple times. However, no product is perfect, and here are a few areas where I think the LLANO could improve:

  1. Size: The charger feels larger than necessary. A more compact design would be welcome, especially for creators who prioritize lightweight gear.

  2. Design Language: The aesthetics could use a refresh. The packaging features seagulls, and the charger itself is styled like a camera, choices that might not resonate with all users.

  3. Mounting Options: Adding 1/4” screw mounts would make it easier to attach the charger to video rigs or tripods, a feature that video shooters would greatly appreciate.

  4. Battery Efficiency: While the charger advertises a 12,400 mAh capacity, it only provides two full charges for Canon batteries (1,865 mAh each). This discrepancy raises questions about efficiency or the actual battery capacity of the charger.

  5. LCD Screen Behavior: The LCD screen could be more power-efficient if it tuned off.

Value for Money

This is where things get tricky. The LLANO charger provides only two full charges per use, which might not be enough for some users. If portability isn’t a concern, simply carrying extra batteries might make more sense. Two additional batteries take up less space in your bag and open up space got more gear. On the other hand the LLANO charger is less expensive than buying 2 batteries.

However, the LLANO charger does double as a power bank, adding versatility. For creators whose cameras don’t include a charger or who need on-the-go power for multiple devices, this product could be a smart investment. And if you pair it with another battery bank, you can extend its usefulness even further.

Conclusion

The LLANO Dual Battery Charger and Battery Bank is a solid product with unique advantages, especially for creators who need flexibility and portability. While it may not be the best choice for everyone due to its size and limited charging capacity, it’s an excellent solution for those who frequently find themselves needing extra power in the field.

If you’re tired of worrying about battery life and need a versatile, all-in-one charging solution, the LLANO charger is worth considering. Just be sure to weigh its pros and cons based on your specific needs. For me, it’s been a valuable addition to my kit and a lifesaver during long shoots.
