COULD THE CANON EOS R5C BE THE PERFECT CAMERA?
I don’t know about you but I’m so excited about this Canon EOS R5c rumour just announced on canonrumours.com. I would probably buy this camera right now if it was available. But than I would have to stop myself because we don’t really know anything about this camera other than the potential name and the fact that it will share the same sensor, and have a similar body and video features to the EOS R5 with active cooling. In this video I give you my thoughts on the EOS R5c rumor and talk about a few features I would love to see in the new video focused camera. I’m looking forward to seeing what rumors are leaked about this camera as the year rolls on.
The EOS R5 is an incredible camera. I currently use it as my daily driver. From a photography perspective, in my opinion this is the best photography camera Canon has ever made and could possibly be the best full frame camera on the market right now. When it comes to video it also packs some pretty spectacular features such as 8k, 120fps in 4k with auto focus and 4k HQ which is essentially 8k down-sampled to 4k giving you an unbelievably clean sharp image. The R5 also records video at a staggeringly high bit rate giving you a lot of information in every frame. All this being said, on paper the EOS R5 would be the perfect camera if it were not for three little flaws. 1) The video features above which made the R5 so exciting all cause the camera to overheat and shut down. So they’re not really usable for professional videographers. 2) The video files from the camera are so beefy that you’ll need a high end computer to process the videos and even then it can be a choppy process. 3) And finally there is a 30min record limit on the R5 so doing long recordings is not possible.
With the EOS R5c being a video focused camera with a built in fan for cooling I’m hoping that the 3 issues mentioned above are addressed. With that could we finally see the perfect hybrid camera?????? Who knows what Canon is going to do but this content creator definitely has his fingers crossed.
Other things I would love to see in the R5c would be the audio and HDMI jacks located on the right side of the camera moved to another place on the camera body so that they don’t block the view of the articulating screen when filming yourself. I’d also love to see duel CF Express card slots so that video recordings can be send to both cards. It’s always good to have a backup when filming this such as weddings.
