As I reminisce on my past 18 years as a freelance photographer there are a few benefits to this career path that really jump out to me. In this blog post I want to share my thoughts on these benefits and hopefully inspire the next generation of content creators to pursue a career in one of the most challenging and rewarding career paths out there.

Working freelance also allows you the freedom to choose who you want to work with. You can foster stronger relationships with the clients that excite you and choose not to work with the clients that irritate you. Eventually you build up a roster of clients that you truly enjoy working for.

Instead of adhering to a corporate brief or meeting the demands of a boss, freelance photographers can explore and develop their artistic vision without limitations. Work hard developing a portfolio filled with the types of photos you love and soon you will find clients that want to hire you to shoot what you love.
