Canon RF 24-105mm f4 L IS USM
The Canon RF 24-105mm f/4 L IS USM lens is a versatile and high-quality zoom lens designed for Canon's RF-mount cameras. Offering a convenient focal length range, it covers wide-angle to short telephoto perspectives, making it ideal for a wide range of photography genres, from landscapes to portraits to everyday use. With its constant f/4 aperture, it delivers consistent performance throughout the zoom range, while the built-in image stabilization helps to reduce camera shake, ensuring sharp and steady images, even in challenging lighting conditions. I bought this lens as a kit lens with my EOS R when it was released in 2018. It’s 2024 as I’m writing this blurb and I have nothing bad to say about this lens. The IS comes in clutch when using this lens for run and gun video work. The image quality is great through the focal range and if used properly you can even get some decent bokeh out of this f4 lens. However I will admit that this lens doesn’t get a lot of use. For portraits the RF 85mm f1.2 is my go to. For filming YouTube videos I prefer the RF 15-35mm f2.8. For a general purpose zoom lens for event and wedding photography I take the RF 28-70 f2. I feel like the 24-105 is a great starter lens but once you decide to specialize in a particular genre there are more specialized lenses that will better suit your needs. That being said when it’s time for a walk through the park with family or a one lens vacation setup nothin beats the light weight compact RF 24-105mm f4 L.
