Canon EF 50mm f1.4 USM
Shooting with the Canon EF 50mm f1.4 USM on a modern mirrorless camera can be a unique experience that blends nostalgia with practicality. One of the positives is the lens's impressive optical quality under the right conditions, making it ideal for portraits and low-light scenarios. The fast f1.4 aperture allows for excellent subject isolation and bokeh. However, there are some downsides to consider. Being released in 1993, the lens lacks some of the advanced features found in newer models, such as advanced coatings, which can affect performance in challenging conditions. Also worth noting is that all lenses of this era were never really sharp wide open so stopping it down to f2.8 really improves image quality. Overall I really like this lens. It can easily be adapted to the modern RF mount and offers great optical quality with a hint of vintage charm at a great price especially when compared to the new RF 50mm f1.4 L.
