BIKE SHOOT WITH KARLI V SAL & VINTAGE LENSES
I had the pleasure of working with Karli V Sal today. We were just hanging out catching up. I’m planning on making a YouTube video about vintage lenses so I’ve been taking them around with me whenever I go someplace. Figure I better get my reps in with the lenses before I start making videos about them. Karlie suggested we get some shot of her on her bike. She got all excited and put together an outfit. I grabbed the vintage glass. It was totally spontaneous. We got in a quick 15min shoot before the sun got too low. It was a cool experience manually focusing lenses again. I haven’t done that in years. It’s kinda cool because the lenses I was using were Canon FD 50mm f1.8 and the Sigma 70-210mm f4.5 which were the first two lenses I ever owned back when I was shooting on the Canon AE-1 Program. So it was kinda nostalgic.
Needless to say I’m really happy with the shots. They came out a lot better than I through they would. The muted colour tones and the soft edges. I love it. These old FD lenses were not perfect but it’s those imperfections that give them so much character. I can’t wait to get out there and shoot some more shots with these lenses and maybe even invest in some more FD glass. Subscribe to my YouTube channel so you don’t miss my video about these lenses.
