5 Accessories for the Fuji X100v

Welcome to my latest video where we’re going to take a closer look at the Fuji X100V, one of the most popular cameras on the market over the past two years. In fact, demand for this camera has been so high that production has struggled to keep up! Now, while the Fujifilm X100V might not be the best camera out there, it’s certainly one of the most fun cameras to use. What’s more, one of the coolest things about this camera is that you can personalize it with accessories.

In this video, I’m going to share with you 5 popular accessories for the Fuji X100V and give you my honest opinion on them. I’ll share my experience with each accessory to help you decide whether it’s something you want to invest in for your own camera. So, whether you’re a seasoned photographer or a newbie, make sure to watch this video before making any decisions on accessories for your Fuji X100V. I’ll be sure to provide all the information you need to make an informed choice. Let’s get started!

  1. Lens Hood

In my opinion, the lens hood accessory is an absolute must-have for the Fuji X100V. Not only does it act as a traditional lens hood, effectively preventing glare in your photos, but it also enables you to attach a 49mm filter to the front of the camera. The Fuji X100V is weather sealed everywhere except for the front of the lens. But with the lens hood attachment, you can make your completely weather sealed by adding a filter to the front. Furthermore, this attachment opens up a world of creative possibilities, allowing you to experiment with a variety of filters on top of Fuji’s built-in film simulations. This will help you create your own unique and captivating photos.

  2. Leather Case

While the leather case accessory won't necessarily improve the quality of your photos, it is a fantastic investment for anyone who wants to ensure that their camera remains protected while it's being transported in a backpack or other type of bag. Personally, I use the black leather case made by Fujifilm and I couldn't be happier with it.

However, if you're not a fan of the black leather look, there are plenty of other camera cases available for the X100V on websites like Amazon or eBay. The benefits of using a camera case are twofold. Firstly, it prevents the strap loops from jingling around while you're taking photos. Secondly, the case makes it much easier to grip the camera, which is particularly useful considering that the X100V doesn't have a very pronounced grip.

So, if you're looking for a way to keep your camera safe and secure while also making it easier to handle, investing in a leather case could be the perfect solution for you.

  3. Shutter Release Button

Initially, I was very excited about purchasing a Shutter Release Button for my camera - it just looked so cool! However, I have to be honest and say that I was incredibly disappointed with the product. The problem is that it only takes a 1/4 twist of the button to detach it from the camera, and as a result, it has fallen off numerous times while I was using it.

To clarify, I purchased the Shutter Release Button made by JJC, and I'm not sure if this same issue persists across other brands. Therefore, if you're interested in buying this accessory for your camera, it's important to do your research and look into whether other brands offer a more reliable product.

Overall, while the Shutter Release Button may look great, I would caution anyone against purchasing it if it doesn’t securely attached to the camera.

  4. Thumb Grip

The hot-shoe mounted thumb grip accessory is an incredibly popular addition for the Fuji X100V. From my personal experience, I've found that it makes a significant difference in the ease of gripping the camera, particularly if you don't have a half-case attached.

When I had a half-case on the camera, I found that the grip was already sufficient, and the thumb grip didn't make much of a difference. However, it's always beneficial to have more options for grip when handling such a stunning camera.

One situation where the thumb grip proved to be especially useful for me was when I attached the TCL lens adapter to the X100V. The lens made the camera front-heavy, but the thumb grip helped to balance the weight in my hand. For anyone using the WCL or TCL lens attachments, I highly recommend investing in the thumb grip accessory.

Overall, the hot-shoe mounted thumb grip is a great addition to the X100V, providing an extra level of comfort and balance when holding the camera, especially when used with certain lens attachments.

  5. Screen Protector

As a professional photographer, I've never been inclined to use screen protectors on my cameras, perhaps because I handle my equipment with the utmost care. However, the Fujifilm X100V is an everyday carry camera that you're likely to toss into a backpack, glove compartment, or jacket pocket on a regular basis. As a result, it's highly likely that the camera will get scratched up over time.

While I don't mind seeing scratches on the body of a camera, as they represent the tool being used to its fullest potential, scratches on the LCD screen can be quite frustrating. To keep the LCD screen looking shiny and new, it makes sense to invest in a screen protector. In my opinion, adding a screen protector to an everyday carry camera like the X100V is a no-brainer. It's a simple and affordable way to protect your investment and ensure you’ll continue to enjoy looking at the LCD screen for years to come.
